Benefits of a Down Quilt

Down is the light fluffy layer found underneath the feathers of waterfowl. Down acts as a natural insulator which will keep your body temperature even. Down also naturally draws excess moisture away from the body – which prevents excessive clamminess and sweating.

The perfect down quilt will feel warm, toasty, and cosy – while remaining incredibly warm to sleep under – a product of pure luxury. Good quality down should be sourced from mature birds in Europe and Northern America, as down from geese in these regions has the highest loft (loft is how fluffy the down is).  The quilt should be well-made – making use of a baffle box design so that the down does not shift throughout the quilt creating cold spots.

Benefits of a Silk Quilt

Silk is a natural product which is perhaps the most breathable of all bedding materials, regulating body temperature without leaving you feeling overheated or clammy – it can change the way you sleep at night. Silk is remarkably comfortable and light and will not leave you feeling suffocated, as you may with some heavier types of quilts.

Silk is great for those who suffer from allergies as it is has some amazing hypoallergenic properties and is highly resistant to dust to mites. The perfect silk quilt will only use mulberry silk as it is the only completely natural silk.
