    The alpaca quilt is delightful.

    I bought the Organic Alpaca QS Quilt to replace a well used down and feather quilt. I was hoping it would be similar in warmth to my previous doona which got me through the year with a fleece blanket thrown over it in Winter. The Alpaca fibre is so light weight yet keeps me warm and comfortable. We've had a few warm nights and a few really cold nights since I put it on my bed. It's easier to put in the doona cover than a feather doona and requires no adjusting or fluffing up. The outer casing has a nice feel to it, kind of silky. I also bought new linen sheets and the whole experience of going to bed feels so much more luxuriant than I was used to! A very happy Granny. Highly recommend the alpaca quilt.

    Best all-rounder

    So sick of my man fixing layers and layers of blanket 😆 I told him we needed to get a quilt instead. Been slowly transitioning to low-tox living as well and this quilt ticks all the boxes. Keeps us warm all throughout! Will definitely recommend to family and friends.

    So light it almost floats above you...

    I read the reviews, but after 20 years of being crushed by a 500gm winter weight organic wool doona, I wasn't prepared for just HOW light this alpaca quilt was going to be. It feels like it's floating above my body, and, at first, I had to touch it to remind myself it was there. But warm! I had to kick it off a few times. I'm really looking forward to winter, so I can get the most from this beautiful quilt. My only regret is, that I didn't discover it sooner...

Do I need All Seasons or Winter?

If you'd like one quilt for most of the year, choose All Seasons (9.5 TOG, 5°C to 20°C). If your winters are cold or you always sleep cold, choose Winter (13.5 TOG, 0°C to 15°C). In very hot climates, our Summer mulberry silk quilt is lighter and more breathable.

How is an alpaca quilt different from a wool quilt?

Both are natural, breathable and temperature regulating, and both make a wonderful choice. Alpaca's hollow fibres make it feel lighter for its warmth, which is why it's the premium natural fibre in our range, alongside our Australian wool quilt.

Is alpaca better than goose down?

They suit different sleepers. Goose down is loftier and puffier, while alpaca drapes closer to the body and excels at regulating temperature. Alpaca is also a natural choice for allergy-conscious and low-tox homes.

Is alpaca good for allergies?

Yes. It's hypoallergenic, dust mite resistant and naturally lanolin-free, making it gentle for sensitive sleepers. It's also OEKO-TEX® certified, independently tested for harmful substances.

How heavy is it?

Light for its warmth. A Queen All Seasons quilt holds 1,300g of alpaca, yet customers often say it feels like it floats above them.

Can I tie it to another quilt?

Yes. Corner loops let you tie it to a second quilt for extra warmth on bitter nights, or to your quilt cover ties so it stays put.

Is an alpaca quilt the same as an alpaca doona or duvet?

Yes, it's simply a difference in name. Whether you call it an alpaca doona, duvet or alpaca wool quilt, it's the same cosy layer, filled here with organic Peruvian alpaca.

How do I keep it fresh?

Alpaca needs very little care. Air it in the shade every few weeks, spot clean any marks, and have it professionally dry cleaned when needed. Keep it in a quilt cover, and avoid machine washing, bleaching, ironing or tumble drying.

Does alpaca have a smell?

New alpaca can have a faint, natural scent, which customers often say reassures them nothing artificial has been added. Airing it for a day or two usually freshens it.

Where is it made?

The alpaca fill is hand-harvested and artisan-crafted in Peru, and the GOTS-certified organic cotton cover is made in Germany. We deliver every alpaca quilt Australia-wide.

Which size should I choose?

Pick the size of your bed. Our alpaca quilts come in standard Australian sizes from Single to Super King, so they fit our quilt covers perfectly. A queen quilt is 210 x 210cm, and a king quilt is a generous 245 x 210cm.

Is alpaca a sustainable choice?

Yes. Alpacas are gentle grazers with soft, padded feet, and their fleece is a natural, renewable fibre shorn each year. Cared for well, an alpaca quilt lasts for years, so it's a choice that feels as good as it sleeps.
